FAMILY ACTIVITIES
In addition to adult education, we'll offer several opportunities for families (of all ages!) to gather, sing, and reflect together on the past year.
The Rabbi on the Train: A Story of Forgiveness
When: Saturday, August 14, 5:30-7:30 PM
Where: Arbaney Park Pavilion, Basalt
What: Storytelling, Singing, Havdalah, Potluck dinner, and games!
Come help Rabbi Segal tell the story of a certain rabbi who was insulted while on a trip, and what he did about it. And come help Cantor Simmons by lending your voice to some fun songs about forgiveness, the new year, and Havdalah. Followed by a potluck dinner and games (bring frisbees, baseball/glove, etc!).

Around the Campfire: Songs of the Season

When: Saturday, August 28, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
Where: Home of Derek and Sally Miller, 101 Vagneur Lane, Basalt
What: Campfire (weather permitting), Singing, Havdalah, Potluck
With the High Holidays come many prayers and melodies that are unique to this time of year. Join Cantor Simmons and Rabbi Segal at the Sheikman-Millers' home for some singing around the campfire, followed by a brief havdalah ceremony and a potluck dinner.
RSVP to Faith Leibell, office@aspenjewish.org or 925-8245

ASPEN SHOFAR SQUAD
Congregants of any age who want to acquire or improve shofar skills are invited. BYOS (S=shofar, of course!); don't worry if you don't have one, because we have plenty of extras. We'll practice the basic technique plus the special blasts for the High Holidays -- no prior experience necessary. During Elul it's traditional to end services with a single shofar blast, so we'll get to practice in front of the congregation each week! Then we'll be prepared to blow the shofar as a team at Harris Hall for the High Holidays!

We'll meet in the classroom downstairs at the Chapel at 5:00 PM on four Fridays in Elul: 8/13, 8/20, 8/27, 9/3. Come for as many as you can.
RSVP to Rabbi Segal (rabbi@aspenjewish.org, 920-2536), but come even if you don't RSVP!

High Holiday Services

The Aspen Jewish Congregation is proud to announce that it is continuing with its tradition of opening the doors to all during our most revered and holiest of our Jewish holidays, Rosh Hashahah and Yom Kippur. We sincerely and gratefully thank all of our supporters and donors who have made it possible for all to attend High Holiday services with the Aspen Jewish Congregation in the lovely and spacious Harris Hall.  In order to continue this tradition, we are dependent upon all of our visitors, friends and congregants to recognize that it takes each of us to step forward and take the responsibility of giving tzedakah to insure that those who cannot afford to contribute can still sit and pray among those who can. Let us take pride in being the type of community who cares for one another and let the Aspen Jewish Congregation be the type of congregation that remains accessible to all.
